5 reasons why you should attend an Adventures with Flowers workshop
And something to say thank you for being here.
My business turned 5 this week. Yep I was that workaholic woman who couldn’t just take care of her baby on maternity leave, she had to start a business. There’s a whole other conversation here around training yourself to slow down and being able to feel safe to do so (perhaps in next weeks newsletter if you’d like it?)
When I started AWF back in 2018 I decided I’d start with what I knew and that was floristry having worked as a florist as my weekend job at Uni. Christmas was coming and who doesn’t like to have a beautiful Christmas wreath adorning their front door?!
So as my Mindful Festive Wreath workshops are still a firm favourite with my customers and I adore teaching them and brining women together to create, connect and chat together I thought i’d share 5 reasons why you should come and get involved this year!
You’ll feel better afterwardsÂ
The run up to Christmas is full on, Christmas parties, buying all the bloody presents and then wrapping the damn things. Not to mention the pressure to make sure you book the best Santa experience going and have THE MOST AMAZING TIME, only for your kids to not get the memo and behave like utter ratbags the entire time (it can’t be just me)!
And all of this can leave you feeling a little strung out before the festive season has really got going.
I promise you, no matter how stressed, anxious or overwhelmed you are feeling at the beginning of the workshop, you’ll feel mellow, happy and excited for what the rest of December has to bring.
During the workshop you will learn techniques that allow you to feel calmer quickly by engaging with Nature and your festive creation both whilst we’re together and once you are at home. You’ll learn about which plants and dried decorations are good for your wellbeing and how you can utilise them to harness calm when you are feeling overwhelmed at home throughout the festive season and beyond.
Time for you
When do you ever get the chance for some time that’s just for you? Life is full on, especially in November/ December and even if your partner helps you with the present buying there still alot to do that i’m guessing falls on your shoulders. And girl that shit is heavy!
By starting the festive season with 2 hours of uninterrupted time doing something for yourself (Yes you can have a hot cup of tea in peace) you’ll reset your nervous system and allow yourself to take a breath. Meaning you’ll actually be able to enjoy the festive chaos afterwards.
Connect with other women
Life as a busy woman can be lonely. You feel like you’re constantly rushing to work, to get everyone out the door and to their respective schools with all the stuff they need for the day ahead. The girlfriends you do have have got similar stresses and coordinating your diaries to spend time together is hard. This can be even harder if you’ve moved away from friends for work and you haven’t yet found your tribe in your new location.
I’ve lived in my current village for nearly 11 years and it’s only been in the last few years that i’ve started to meet new people and feel less lonely. How did I do it? I went along to local events and just started chatting to people.
If that sounds terrifying (and it was for me too, I promise) then I want to assure you that there’s something about getting creative in a small group of women (no more than 6 including me) where the conversation just flows. I deliberately foster an atmosphere of openness and honesty where you can really feel safe to share whatever is on your mind without fear of judgement, should you choose to.
The conversation often turns to how our year’s have been so far and I find there is huge power in sharing the load with other women in a similar situation to yourself. Past attendees have said they feel like ‘a weight has been lifted’ after coming to one of my workshops.
Pretty powerful stuff I think you’ll agree.
Learn a new skill
You will learn a new skill, whether that is how to properly prune your plants, how to make your own Christmas wreath or how to design and grow your own sensory garden.
Now I know you’re probably thinking i’m not creative so there’s no way that I could create something as beautiful as that. Or, I kill everything so there’s no way those seeds are going to survive. Well, think again. Past attendees are always amazed at what they create or manage to grow. I am going to be teaching you some really simple ways to tap in to your creativity to help you create something that is as wonderfully unique as you are. It’s one of my superpowers!
Research suggest that learning something new boosts our wellbeing, confidence and happiness.
You’ll feel proud of what you’ve grown or created.
You'll have a gorgeous creation to take home with you- be that a wreath to adorn your wall or door or a planting plan and a load of sensory plants ready to go straight into your borders so that you can tap in to that feeling of calm even on the toughest of days.
It can be easy to skim over your achievements in life as an adult. Always on to the next thing to achieve on the (completely made up) ladder of life. It’s bloody exhausting and it means you often lose sight of how amazing you are.
Not only are you going to create something truly beautiful but i’ll be encouraging you to celebrate you and your stunning creation throughout our time together and right throughout the year too.
