Hi darling, I’m Kendall, a horticultural therapist. Here on my Substack, I share tips on how to use your garden to grow your personal power in a world that tries to keep women stuck, exhausted & burnt out. Come grab your trowel and join the rebellion, we’ve got a patriarchy to dismantle.
Welcome to the Seed, the place where we learn to resource ourselves in the garden so that we can unlock more joy in our lives.
Welcome to the wonderful Welford Park, home of the Great British Bake Off AND one of the best displays of snowdrops in the UK. A 5 minute drive from the market town of Newbury this stunning private garden is open from the end of January to very early March so that visitors can wander their way through the woodland awash with white and green.
Although the last few wet winters have meant they have lost some snowdrops, the display is no less impactful nestled alongside the banks of a beautiful trickling chalk stream. At points, the water is so clear you can see the bottom and all the delights that exist there. We had great fun playing poo sticks with the kids off of one of the many bridges (my stick sunk EVERY TIME).
It’s £12 for an adult to get in on the weekend, which given we whiled away 3 hours there, I think is quite good value when you compare it to National Trust properties in the area.
So let’s dig in to the things you really want to know hey, What I loved, What I didn’t 😉 and how you can create a little slice of snowdrop heaven in your garden at home.
