I went to watch a friend in a Charity Boxing match last night. Wow! There is nothing like seeing someone you love get punched in the face. After the adrenaline had left my body, my hands had stopped shaking and my nervous system had calmed down an overwhelming sense of pride took over.

Pride at her commitment, her drive and her resilience to train so hard and continue to raise so much money for such a worthwhile cause (Stand up to Cancer).

There have been many times over the last few years when i’ve had to dig deep and lean on my own drive and resilience just to be able to get out of bed, go to work and get through the day.

And I rarely felt proud of myself for doing that. In fact I felt a deep sense of shame that it was taking so much for me to just be able to do things that were considered part and parcel of every day life.

Over time I have learnt to take all feelings I have ‘good’ or ‘bad’ to the garden. To process them and decipher their origins as my skin contacts the crumbly soil. It’s cool touch like a salve for my (at times) tortured soul.

If you’re having a tough time right now, I really encourage you to try it. Here’s some ways you can do just that this week.
