Things to do this week in your garden- January Week 4
Mindful Gardening and Floristry activities to calm your mind and soothe your soul
I felt a bit sick as I recounted my experience of burnout to the Radio 5 live presenter last night. (I’m on at 1hr and 51 minutes in in case you wanna have a listen).
Bursting into tears the minute I got home, every night for weeks. Unable to explain why I was so upset.
When I wasn’t crying uncontrollably I was snappy and downright foul to, especially my husband, but even strangers. There was a particularly horrible encounter with the lady behind the counter in our local post office which makes my toes curl when I think of how I behaved.
Holding it together at work but feeling like I was one bit of bad feedback or a cross word from a colleague away from feeling like i’d just curl up in a ball and wail like a baby.
Permanently exhausted but waking up dripping in sweat with my mind racing every night.
Complete apathy and zero excitement about doing things I usually loved to do.
As I talked about how my garden had helped me scrape myself back up off the floor 5 minutes at a time. It hit me yet again about what a powerful tool gardening is for helping you to redress the balance between constantly working and mothering and allowing your mind to quiet so you don’t feel like your head is about to explode near constantly.
That is why I write the articles to you, to encourage you to give it a try. Either on your own, or if you haven’t got the time or inclination to figure out what the fuck to do in your garden and when, as part of my mindful gardening community here on Substack. Which if you’re not already a member you can join for just £50 for the year.
Paid up members, here’s this weeks activities to get you out of your head and into your body so you can give your tired, tired brain a rest.
