Things to do this week in your garden- 18th August 2024
Mindful Gardening and Floristry activities to calm your mind and soothe your soul
My brain craves being busy and getting lots of dopamine but it also craves space. What the hell do I do about that?
We went to Peppa Pig world last weekend. It was wild, so busy and really really good fun. I played on a water game with my eldest that I used to play on as a kid. It was pretty broken and half of the parts that were supposed to move when you filled them with enough water didn’t. But we still squealed with laughter as we blasted water at the burning buildings and spun the firemen round and round.
By the end of the day I was absolutely exhausted and felt the after effects of being around so many people, for days.
Similarly this week while i’m on holiday I know my brain will be struggling to switch off and relax because it’s on it’s never ending quest for more dopamine.
Some of the things that i’ve found help my brain to get its dopamine but also not to have to hibernate for 3 days afterwards are:
Pilates
Going for a walk in Nature
Swimming
Laughing with friends you can be truly yourself with
Gardening
I can’t profess to be able to help you with the other 4, but i’m pretty good at gardening and can definitely help you to use it to quiet your mind, reduce your stress levels and feel more joy.
It’s super simple really, you just need to give yourself permission to try.
