We’ve woken up to the most gorgeous frost here in Theale. All the plants are glistening with the sheen of an overnight drop in temperature.

At last, perhaps the trees will shake off their final leaves and allow themselves to slow down into that period of rest they’ve long been waiting for.

It won’t come as a surprise to you that i’m a huge advocate for slowing down and taking periods of rest just like Mother Nature does. But as much as we may want to take a whole season to nourish and rejuvenate ourselves, it’s just not realistic. And actually i’d argue it’s not that helpful.

It reminds me of that time I burnt out. I’d been keeping going at full tilt for so long, that eventually my body and mind said no more and I was forced to stop and scale things back.

These feelings can often surface for us around the festive period when there is so much to do and organise on top of all the others things we are constantly juggling.

I’ve just taken an hour in bed to myself to start getting all the noise in my head out into the Calm Christmas planner by Beth Kempton. Which is available for free on her website here.

I’ve deliberately created space in my calendar for the coming week to get out in my garden and practice some of this week’s mindful gardening activities to help me feel less panicky in what is a very VIBRANT time. I wholeheartedly believe that little pockets of rest and time for yourself throughout your week are much more effective at keeping overwhelm at bay.

I hope you’ll join me. If you need some inspiration for what to do out there to get your garden looking good and you feeling good, then do consider joining on a free trial for 7 days. If you enjoy the activities you can choose to stay on as a paid subscriber, which you can cancel at any time.

PLUS don’t forget if you’re struggling with something in your garden and you’re a paid subscriber you can ask me for help in the comments!
