Things to do this week in your garden- 12th May 2024
Mindful Gardening and Floristry activities to calm your mind and soothe your soul
One of my favourite podcast interviews I’ve ever done came out this week, and not just because my friend and fellow the Seed community member Maeve said I sounded ‘very clever’! Ha ha.
I could feel the butterflies doing a merry dance in my stomach before we hit record, not only because Tracy Otsuka, the host, has a huge platform for Smart Ass women with ADHD. But also because I knew it was time to get vulnerable about my struggles with ADHD over the years (even though I had no clue that what it was until January 2023).
I shared about my struggles to form true emotional intimacy and my fear of showing the world who I really am, my challenges with trying to unmask since getting my diagnosis and of course about how my garden has helped me quiet the noise in my head for the last 10 years.
I love this quote that Tracy pulled out of our conversation.
It reminded me of the fear so many of us feel around doing something new, or something that feels like the unknown (myself included). It’s much more comfortable to stay doing what you’ve always done, EVEN IF it’s not working for you. It certainly feels safer as women to not stick your neck out and potentially do something wrong. Because what would that then mean about you?
Would it mean that you’re a bad person, as we were taught in school (and sometimes at home) for simply making a mistake? Is it any wonder you’re keeping yourself stuck? Refusing to try new things incase you fail.
But what if you tried that thing and it changed your life?
So here’s my invite to you this week. Upgrade to paid via the button below and give this week’s mindful gardening activities a try.
