Things to do this week in your garden- 28th April 2024
Mindful Gardening and Floristry activities to calm your mind and soothe your soul
Well what a week. I hope yours has been significantly less vomit filled.
As you read this I should be sunning myself in Mallorca with my hubby on his 40th birthday trip.
But instead i’m in endlessly raining Berkshire because my husband was taken ill 10 minutes before we were due to leave for the airport. Yes the Norovirus had got him too. I’ve spent the last 2 days close to tears, battling with doctors and insurance companies to try and salvage some of our money back. But the one thing we needed the most, some time together and some sun on our faces will not be reimbursed even by the best insurance company in the land.
I could feel my mood sinking lower and my need for space becoming evermore desperate yesterday. I headed to the greenhouse to pot up some plants and have a good cry. Always my salvation in times of heartache and disappointment.
When I was at my most overwhelmed and overworked I clung to holidays and time off like my life depended on it- because in hind sight it probably did.
Now I build little pockets of time for me into everyday, so the need for a break was slightly less intense, but still there all the same.
This incessant work, work, work culture that we’ve all been born into is making us ill. You only need to look at the ridiculous headlines this week with Rishi spouting off about changing ‘sick note culture’. How about Rishi, you change the work until you drop culture that is MAKING everyone sick and workplace absence would significantly reduce.
Ha, literally never going to happen sadly. Which is why it’s up to us to take back the power and make a decision that we don’t need to earn time off or time for ourselves. You don’t need to make sure your inbox is at zero, or the washing basket is empty before you get to do something for you.
You get to make the choice to do something for you right now without any boxes to tick first.
Here’s this weeks mindful gardening activities to give you some inspiration.
