‘Oooooh, I wonder who this one could be for’ said my Dad as he reached deep under the Christmas tree and pulled out a thin rectangular shaped box wrapped with gold wrapping paper and way more sellotape than was strictly necessary.
I grabbed the reindeer tag as it swung gently below the sparkling box.
‘To John, Love Santa’ I read out loud.
‘It’s for you Daddy, from Santa’ I exclaimed with delight.
He slowly unwrapped the crunchy paper to reveal……
‘A Steven Segal DVD, how did he know this is just want I wanted’ my Dad said with a chuckle.
‘You didn’t even write him a list’ I squealed!
I’d love to say we snuggled up and watched the DVD together. But if you’ve ever watched a Steven Segal film you'll know that not only are they way too violent for small kids to watch, but they are absolutely awful! Stiff acting and way too much kicking and hitting for my liking.
No, my dad of course had gifted this DVD to himself. To be watched alone as he took some much needed time for himself after working 6 long days a week.
I of course continue this tradition myself now. This years treat is a Happy Self Journal which I plan to carve out some time daily to bring some awareness to all that i’m grateful for and all that I have achieved (I’m notoriously bad for recognising this!)
And I’d love to invite you to do the same and treat yourself to something just for you.
A years subscription to the paid tier of this very newsletter the Seed is just £50 and will enable you to take many, many mindful moments and time for yourself throughout your busy week.
If you’ve been in my world a while you’ll know we lost my Dad earlier this year and he would be delighted to know that you will be continuing his legacy by giving yourself the gift of time and space just for you.
Hope your Christmas is restful and filled with garden and plant related gifts.
Sending you so much love and i’ll see you in 2024!
