Do these two things to change the future for yourself and all women
It’s no secret that I think getting out in the garden is the antidote to burnout. I spend my days talking about it online and actually getting my clients out there doing mindful gardening activities so they can quiet their minds and take some time for them.
I also talk a lot about the fact that as women raised in the 80’s and 90’s we didn’t have a lot of role models showing us how to take time for ourselves. In fact my Mum worked full time, did all the household duties and had barely any time for her. And I followed in her footsteps and ended up burnt out and in a right state.
It’s still seen as radical and rebellious to take time for you. We feel like we have to earn it, saying ‘once i’ve done all the washing and sent these emails then I can do something for me’. I still struggle with this as I wrote about here, so you really are not alone.
But what I am doing is being a role model for you and for future generations of women so that you start to see that it really isn’t all that rebellious to look after yourself. And actually it gets to be fun and easy.
And along the way when our old conditioning creeps back we’ve got each other to get us back in the garden without the need to earn it.
I’ve recently been nominated in the Berkshire Muddy Stilettos Awards for the Best Florist or Plant Specialist.
It’s my first time being nominated and when I look at the very established brands I’m up against it’s a little intimidating.
The temptation is strong to not shout about it and not ask people to vote in case I don’t win. A public failure is my worst nightmare (thanks RSD- Rejection sensitivity dysphoria).
BUT my burning desire to get more women in their gardens connecting with nature so that they can find some headspace and feel less overwhelmed and exhausted is far stronger.
So here I am asking you to vote for me by 1pm on Thursday 18th April 2024. Im Adventures with Flowers (Theale). It takes 2 minutes and please make sure to verify your vote so it counts.
And the second thing you can do, for you, is to get in the garden. Right after you’ve voted of course :)
If you need some ideas of what the hell you can be doing out there to feel good then upgrade to paid today and check out this weeks Mindful Gardening activities.
