Welcome to the Seed newsletter
Want to throw perfectionism in the bin and grow your gardening confidence in community? Me too! I can't wait to see what we grow together π±
Hi darling, Iβm Kendall, a horticultural therapist.
Here in the Seed, I share tips on how to use your garden to grow your personal power in a world that tries to keep women stuck, exhausted & burnt out.
Iβve created this space so we can learn to resource ourselves in the garden and unlock more joy in our lives.
After teaching myself to garden over the last decade or so, I know what itβs like to outsource your power to gardening books and YouTube instead of trusting in your innate wisdom.
Iβm here to furnish you with just the information you need to grow your garden and help you tune back into your inner knowing instead of second guessing yourself constantly.
This newly discovered inner confidence shines out into every aspect of your life when you know that you always have a place to go to connect with yourself and Mother Nature.
Iβd be delighted to support your gardening journey whether youβre here for the Free to Read articles or more support.
About me
Iβm a horticultural therapist, ex-forensic scientist and mum to 2 wild and wonderful little girls. My garden saved me from burnout in 2014 and has continued to help me navigate workplace bullying, maternity discrimination, grief and the loneliness of new motherhood.
Since then iβve helped many women to start to slow down in their gardens as a way to resource themselves in a world that is screaming at them to give, give, give to everyone else but them. You can read some testimonials here.
The patriarchy doesnβt want us to garden because it fears the power weβll cultivate when weβre out there. So it tells us we donβt have the time or the knowledge, piles on the expectations so we feel too exhausted to add another thing to the mix and keeps us stuck, exhausted and fed up.
Iβm here to help you start to slowly peel those expectations back and guide you into the garden.
How does the Seed work?
I send out an email once a month about the focus for our gardens that month. This links to weekly mindful gardening activities for paid members so you can stop overthinking and take action in your garden. We chat about which ones we plan to do in the comments for some accountability and then share how they went- judgement free of course!
I have and regularly update a page of βHow toβ articles to help you learn new gardening skills with our support. Again the comments sections are a place to share your wins and your struggles without feeling like youβre shit at gardening.
You get to come and Adventure with me as I take you on my monthly garden visits around the UK. Sharing the best bits, the shit bits and how you can recreate the good bits in your own garden.
You can join us in the Membership monthly themed chat thread and get my advice on your garden during our live Q&Aβs, in line with the monthly theme.
This combination of inspiration, practical activities and the support and encouragement to bring focus to something that you want to achieve in your garden make all the difference to my members.
You can grab a copy of my free guide as a jumpstart in your garden when you sign up to receive emails from me here at the Seed.
The guide is in your welcome email and has step by step advice on where to get started on knowing what to plant in your garden.
Hereβs what some members had to say:
Why should this matter to you?
Because our world is burning down around us, literally and figuratively and Iβm fucking raging about it. Womenβs rights are being rolled back on the daily and if we want to avoid having to don a handmaidβs tale style red outfit, sit down shut up and do as weβre told for the rest of our lives then we need to fight back.
But weβre tired, patriarchy has us trapped in doing mode because it keeps us quiet and not able to use our voices to stand up for what we believe in. In fact itβs got us so busy we donβt even know what we believe in anymore. The internet is so noisy with opinion that its hard to hear yourself think. Especially if you have a neurospicey brain like me and have spent your entire life masking in a desperate attempt to fit in and be liked.
Imagine this β¬οΈ is me giving you your permission slip to be your whole wonderful self. And if youβre not sure who that is anymore then come and join me in your garden to quiet the noise and rediscover your magic.
Iβm on a mission to reunite every woman in the world with her inner power and her voice by growing her confidence in the garden.
Come grab your trowel and join the rebellion, weβve got a patriarchy to dismantle and a whole lot of brightly coloured bloody gorgeous flowers to grow.
I love the idea of gardening as re-gaining power! After all nothing is more powerful than being able to grow your own food or have control over a little piece of land you can cultivate and make look completely to your liking. I'm also all for throwing away the rule book and following tight criteria when it comes to gardening. It's just makes it more anxiety inducing instead of a relaxing hobby.
