Why do you do this in an attempt to feel better?

I’m of course talking about scrolling on your phone.

The initial dopamine hit feels good sure, but it’s quickly followed by a huge spike in your cortisol levels (the stress hormone) which long term is damaging your mental health and wellbeing. Plus you’re using it to numb your feelings instead of feeling them.

In complete contrast, when you get gardening, your cortisol levels drop, you get back in to your body allow your feelings to flow and the stress and overwhelm dissipates. Plus you’ll still get that dopamine hit and it will be much longer lasting.

Getting gardening everyday is the difference between feeling fraught, stressed and resentful and calm, empowered and able to cope with the stresses of life.
